In my efforts to train for my upcoming half marathon next week, my friend Marti and I ran 11 & 1/2 miles on Saturday. The results: three new blisters. I have had a couple small blisters since I have been running, but nothing like these bad boys!

A little hard to tell, but two up top and one above my heel.

Here they are today: popped and painful!!

Thanks to my new (3 weeks old) $135 Saucony running shoes, I now have pain with every step I take. I decided that I probably need WIDE shoes. I also don't think I am much of a Saucony fan at this point!

Those look painful. I hope they heal in time for your marathon this next weekend. Good Luck!!
Ouch! I hope they heal soon! I think it takes forever to find good shoes! especially running shoes! Good luck next week!
Those look horrible! I like my Nike's but haven't ran 11 miles in them yet. I'm still at the 5k level. Good luck at the half marathon!
oh man! that looks painful! I ran a half marathon last spring and it was so much fun. My knees were killing me during the last part of training and I took off an entire week of running leading up to the actual half and it was great. You should just rest and heal up otherwise you will be hating it. good luck!!! and dont forget to stretch and drink lots of water afterwards....trust me. I was stiff as a board for three days afterwards. ouch
Yeah for all your training! I am so excited to see you and to run with you. I've never run with Saucony's before- I'm a big Aasics fan if you feel like investing in a new pair of shoes before next week! I hope the blisters get better quick.
Ouch! Shoes are so hard. I can ONLY wear Saucony or Aasics. I've tried all the other brands and they just don't fit my feet right. I don't know if it will help this late in the game, but here are a couple tips I got from different people last year when we were going to be a ma and pa at our stake's trek.
1. Wear a cut off nylon under your socks so your socks don't rub on your feet when you run. Marcos actually wears a thin pair of socks under his soccer socks when he plays soccer and swears by them.
2. Mole skin. When you do get blisters, cut out pieces of mole skin to form around them so your sock and shoe don't continue to rub against them when you are walking or running.
3. Again maybe too late, but there are glide sticks in sports stores that some people use on their feet. They're for all sorts of stuff - my SIL uses one on her upper arms when she runs long races because her arm sometimes rubs against the side of her shirt and sports bra.
I know you weren't asking for advice, but that's what I know. Hopefully you can run through the blisters. Good luck on the race! I've only done one race and it was a crazy hard one, but the feeling of completing a big goal like that is indescribable!
The mark of a true runner! Congratulations, you've arrived! Can't wait to run with you, see you soon! But seriously, you shouldn't have any of those, I'd be returning those shoes in a stinkin' hurry! I'll call you, now.
One more reason NOT to run!
Thinking about you and your big run today! Here's hoping you don't earn any more heinous blisters. You're a champ!!! --Marti $
That looks miserable! I hope they are getting better and not worse by now!
Yikes those definitely look painful! Good for you running a marathon though!
I have a pair of saucany's that I've had for a few years and I actually really loved them. I tried on lots of different brands before I bought and they seemed to fit my foot the best. Hopefully it will get better :)
