Tad and I just recently got home after spending a week in Bermuda. Yes, just Tad and I...NO KIDS! There is nothing like hanging out with your best friend on the beautiful pink beaches of Bermuda! Not to mention, the sleeping in, going to the gym, and the eating of delicious food. Our very sweet friend Glenna watched our crew and came out alive. The saying "time makes the heart grow fonder", well, it's true because by the end of the week I was rejuvenated and ready to see my sweet boys.
On Sunday we attended church along with about 40 other members from our group. The branch in Bermuda was really small and our 40 was more than their total branch attendance that day. We really enjoyed meeting some of the members. There are very few teenagers in the branch and one of the boys has been struggling as his friends have all fallen away from the church. He was really strengthened to see all of us come and asked "There's this many people in the church?" It was really humbling to me to hear that because I take for granted to the strength of the church, even in NJ. Here he lives on a tiny island and is one of the only teenage members and is the only member in his family. He hung out with some of the families in our group that had teenagers and I think was really strengthened by them. He taught us all a great lesson while we strengthened him.
We went to Crystal Caves which was amazing! They estimate it to be around 1.6 million years old.
One day we went into a city called St. George's. It is a cute little city with the town hall, churches, shopping and quaint restaurants.
The oldest Angelican church in the "new world". Bermuda is owned by England, so this chapel was recently dedicated as "Her Majesties Chappell".
We spent quite a bit of time of the beaches....swimming, tanning, reading a book, and sitting by the waves at night. The sand is pink and is so beautiful.
We also spent a lot of time eating! We ate at some fabulous restaurants and I am still "dieting" after our trip to lose the weight I gained. It was worth it though...
A romantic dinner by the ocean.
Dinner with the Driggs & Earhart's.
We hiked to to top of the lighthouse and the view was amazing! All of the houses are painted a pastel color and the rooftops are white. The roofs are made of limestone because every house catches the rainfall and stores it in their basement to use for their water. It is so expensive to take the salt out of the ocean water, so they must conserve.
Bermuda is actually quite small. It's only 22 miles in length and 2 miles across at it's widest point.
Bermuda moongate.
We saw this design all over the island and it represents peace and tranquility.
