Thankful for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was the perfect excuse for my parents to come out and visit. We were thankful they could join us. This year was a Thanksgiving of many firsts for Tad and I: our first Thanksgiving we've celebrated in New Jersey (last year we were in Utah and New York the year before that), first Thanksgiving we've hosted, the first time I've made a turkey or yams (thanks to my mom's direction, it all tasted great!), and first time 2 of our 3 kids were asleep for the meal.

Nana & Grandpa came out four days before the big day, so we were able to do some sight-seeing and spend some time with them.

The first day here, we headed into Manhattan and visited the American Museum of Natural History, which was fascinating and fun. That night we watched "Night at the Museum", where we saw many of the things from the museum.

The second day, we went to Washington's Crossing in PA, where George Washington & his army crossed the Delaware on Christmas Eve. Then drove over to Trenton, NJ and saw some barracks that were used during the Revolutionary War. If you're a history buff like my dad, then it would be a real treat!

Then next day we had a babysitter for the chillins and Tad and I with my parents headed into the city for the day. Here we are at Times Square.

We visited Bryant Park that had an outdoor ice skating rink with Christmas shops all around. My mom and I enjoyed the shopping. We then saw the Rockefeller Plaza tree, then saw "Wicked" on broadway. It was my dad's first broadway, and I'm pretty sure he enjoyed it.

That night Nana and Dallin made our pies. Dallin did the design on the crust all by himself; he did a fabulous job!

Dallin was so excited all day long to eat the "Thanksgiving Feast.". He sat at the table for an hour before the meal was ready waiting for it to be done. His favorite part was the pie, of course! Gavin and Ethan aren't in this picture because they were taking their nap, which made for a quiet Thanksgiving meal.

Nana & Grandpa with the kids before they left. We enjoyed having them celebrate Thanksgiving with us!!

What a fun Thanksgiving with your parents Melanie! You are quite the hostess. There are so many things to see out where you live. Endless entertainment. Would love to see it all someday!
