Mother's Day

This year Mother's Day was a good day.  It is always great to get extra hugs & kisses!  I gave up a long time ago on the idea that on Mother's Day my children would sit perfectly through church, not fight after we got home, not throw food at the dinner table, not say mean things to each other.....you get the point!  After I realized these things (about 5 years ago) Mother's Day has always been one of my favorite days.  Here are a few of my favorites......

 - In the morning the boys snuck into my room and yelled "Happy Mother's Day" each with a card for me in their hand.  But the best part was Gavin yelled, "Happy Valentine's Day....I mean Happy Mother's Day" instead.  It was hard not to laugh.

-As were walking into church Ethan said to me, "Mom, I like your skirt."  So sweet.

-The primary sang  Mother's Day songs in church & it choked me up a bit. They actually knew most of the words.

-My boys got me a cupcake holder (cutest thing ever) and a trifle dish (which I've wanted ever since I saw my friend Colette's) and Tad got me new dinnerware (yay!!)

-Talking to my mom on the phone and her sweet card telling me what a great mom I am.

-At Primary they had the kids fill out a paper about their mom & here are Gavin's replies:
**How old is your mom?  16
**How much does your mom weigh?  17 lbs  (I'd even take a 1 before that number!)
**My mom's favorite color?  purple
**My mom's favorite food?  noodles (which is really his favorite food)
**My mom's job?  Clean up the kitchen  (yep, got that one right)
**If my mom had time, she would love to?  Help draw pictures
**I love my mom because?  She lets me go to the stores (Glad that makes him feel loved)

-Dallin made me the sweetest card at school.

-Tad telling me just as we're about to go to sleep what a great mom I am and how lucky he and the boys are to have me.  It was priceless!

Mother's Day made me feel loved and helped me realize my family really is the most important job I could have and I love it.  I am so thankful that I am a mother as I can't imagine life any other way.  I am  also thankful for my mom who has taught me so much & my sweet mother-in-law.

You are amazing, and I am going to invite myself over for some Trifle and cupcakes.
