I was convinced that the babies were never coming. I was HUGE and uncomfortable (as you can imagine with two) , but I knew I wanted to and needed to keep them in (and cooking) for as long as possible. My doctor said they wouldn't let me go past 38 weeks, and I really didn't think I could carry them that long, but 38 1/2 weeks rolled around, and I was still pregnant. So, my doctor scheduled a c-section for Feb. 6th at 11 a.m. I was supposed to be there at 9 a.m. On the morning of Feb. 6th, I awoke around 7 a.m. to a very strong kick, got out of bed and realized my water had broke, so of course I told Tad. We both showered and dropped Dallin off at the neighbors and headed to the hospital. By this time it was about 8 a.m. The contractions were about every 5 min. and medium strength. The hospital is about 25 min. away (with no traffic). It was a weekday and very heavy traffic, in addition, it was sprinking rain. We had been traveling about 15 min. and gone only a few miles. By this time, my contractions were very painful and about every 1-2 min. My very sweet and concerned husband called 911 and asked for a police escort. They told us to drive on the side of the road with our flashers on and meet them at a certain exit. At this time I am thinking we will just get a police escort to the hospital. We finally arrive at the predetermined exit and wait a minute, then FOUR police cars show up and AN AMBULANCE. I told Tad that I would not go in the ambulance, and that he should just drive me, and we would be fine. He insisted and the paramedics insisted. Next thing I know, I am sitting in the back of an ambulance going to the hospital. The ambulance even had a police escort, which the paramedics told me that I must be pretty special because they never get a police escort. That only adds to my embarrassment. I was glad no one could see who was in the back of the ambulance. Tad followed along as best he could, but arrived soon after I did to the hospital. When I got to the hospital, my doctor arrived shortly and said I was dilated to a 7. She said we need to get you to the OR now. We had already previously decided I would have a c-section because baby #1 (Ethan) was breech. Ethan was born at 9:23 a.m. and Gavin at 9:24 am. Both were healthy with no problems. No NICU time either. Yeah! What a way to enter life. I guess I should probably be prepared for surprises with them for the rest of my life.

Gavin and Ethan were born Feb. 6, 2008 to two very delighted parents and a very excited brother. We feel very blessed to have two more little boys in our family.
